Space may be the final frontier, but Star Trek is a well-explored universe by now. Captain Kirk, the Enterprise, transporters, phasers, tricorders and Klingons are part of our common language. But there's still tons of insane stuff you've never heard about Trek.
Out of context it sounds like a bad joke. Oh that crazy Kirk and his buffalo-thinking ways! But in context, the final two lines of "The Man Trap" form a surprisingly melancholy exchange.
Star Trek started as a humble five-year mission, but the franchise soon went into warp speed. Unfortunately for many of the men and women who've starred in the venerable franchise's many films and TV series over the last five decades and countingthere seems to be a side effect of Star Trek : it can be something of a career killer. After wearing the same Starfleet uniform for years, many Trek actors seem to fall out of the spotlight.
Yes, this is the obligatory rambling post about episode 9 of Star Trek Discovery a. As for this episode, the headline sums it up really. Nor was it obviously cribbed from older Star Trek episodes.

The instant that I saw this Netflix description, I knew this was gonna be good. And Kirk and Spock slap each other over love. The title also made me think of this weird Harry Potter meme.
It'll blow people's minds when Data gets drunk, because he's normally not drunk! In that one previous episode! Quite why anyone felt that the best way to ease us into our second adventure with the new Trek cast was to throw in an episode where everyone acts vastly out of character, I'll never quite understand, but perhaps there's value in understanding the characters' various neuroses early on. It's just a shame they don't really come up again.
